VIVA VIGAN FESTIVAL: CELEBRATING BIGUEÑOS CULTURE AND HERITAGE
Vigan is one of the most beautiful places in the world when it comes to culture. It is rich in historical structures, especially the vintage architectural houses, known as the heritage of Vigan. As a recognition of Vigan City's culture, events are held every year, such as festivals. The Ilocos Sur Festival begins with a parade showcasing their schools, barangays, workers, hospitals, and many others. This parade is prepared with costumes, dancing, and riding vehicles while throwing candies to the spectators. The main activities in front of the Ilocos Sur Municipal involve a dancing foundation accompanied by fireworks. Apart from these activities, there is also a parade of various creations to showcase culture and products such as carabao and nipa hut parade for the agri-culture parade. Bigueños beautify their creations to win the parade competition. There is also a bargain where you can buy Ilocos Sur products like abel, furniture, plants, cichain, souvenirs, and food. On the other hand, there are also stalls selling household necessities. If you get hungry, there are snacks available.
On Feb. 6, they are having their prepared beauty pageant for the whole of Ilocos Sur, where beautiful, intelligent, and advocacy-driven women can be seen. Their talents, ramp skills, and performance in the Question and Answer portion will be showcased.
Vigan City is made more beautiful through colorful streets, such as lighting, music, decorations, and craftsmanship. The city also has events for that, like the Art Competition. There are more expected events every day until February 14. It's surely a great place to visit with family and friends. So, if you haven't been yet, go now while there's still time!
